Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal is a sticky business, whether it’s on your concrete, parking lot or the side of a building, gum eventually turns into a smudge on concrete. But before that happens, pedestrians and clients coming into a store or office will step on it and track it in all over the carpets, rugs and entryway mats. Then it’s embedded deep into the carpet fibers and into the porous surface of concrete, just waiting for another person to step in it again, to track it somewhere else.
We are proud to offer gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Pearland TX. Find information on our process below:
The best methods of removing chewing gum from concrete usually depends on the gum’s age and level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the chewing gum was left not long ago and it hasn’t penetrated the surface, we are sometimes able to get it off by covering it with ice until it freezes, then scraping it off with a putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a more forgiving consistency compared to a warm and stringy glob. Once that happens, we slide a metal putty knife or scraper right under the gum residue. Next we move the scraper slowly under the gum and the whole piece should peel right off the concrete.
The above method is only possible with gum that is brand new.
When we remove chewing gum that is already black, or is smashed deep down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water power washer with the heat dialed up to 200 Degrees to melt the chewing gum. For this type of gum removal service, we don’t use very high pressure because that will sometimes harm the surface of the concrete!
Our pressure washers never uses any more pressure than necessary to clean concrete. These types of surfaces can be damaged much easier than people think, especially if they’re only a few years old. Concrete can take up to 100 years to cure. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our professional chewing gum removal professional.
To remove gum from sidewalks and other surfaces we use custom designed hot water pressure washing equipment and special soaps that allow us to clean the concrete without leading to any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water power washers and low pressure equipment, we can safely remove gum and dirt while protecting the surface. Our method will also eliminate bacteria and germs that sometimes found in gum on concrete.
